Answers About Wedding Photography

Planning a wedding can be a very daunting task. What with time constraints and budget concerns, some couples choose to leave some of the more important aspects out of their wedding completely. Photography should not be one of them.

In this article, we will address some basic topics on wedding photography that every couple should know when planning their special day.

How far in advance should I book a photographer for my wedding?

Many photographers recommend booking a photographer as soon as you get engaged, or at least until you know the wedding date. It is suggested that the engaged couple book 8-12 months in advance because many studios book wedding dates quickly.

Weddings are more prominent from May to October when the weather is most favorable. If you choose to hold your wedding within this period, the photographer you choose will likely require a non-refundable deposit or retainer fee to hold your wedding date.

This ensures that you will have this studio or photographer on your desired date, as well as securing a job for your photographer. The sooner you book your photographer, the more likely you are to be able to work with your first choice.

What are the advantages of hiring a professional?

The main advantage to hiring a professional wedding photographer is experience. Most wedding photographers have experience dealing with many different individuals and difficult personalities.

They have faced unfavorable weather conditions, and encountered technical problems. Since they specialize in photography, they are well equipped to handle various wedding sizes or photo demands.

Unlike a friend or relative of the couple, a professional photographer 's main goal is capturing candid moments on film. Knowing they are depended on delivering superior photos that will be cherished for years to come, they are less apt to be carried away by aspects of the ceremony.

With an event that allows no second chances, hiring a professional is a good investment that will help keep your memories of your special day around for years.

Which one is better, digital or film?

It will all really depend on what the photographer that you choose prefers. Digital is usually less costly than film. However, film can be scanned at a higher resolution when larger prints are desired, and it is ideal for fast moving subjects due to faster shutter speeds on 35mm cameras.

On the other hand, digital prints come out the same as film, sometimes even better. With digital photography there are no negatives so there is no processing time at all, and less chance of damaged or lost film, or photo finishing problems.

Digital photos can be easier to share with friends or family through emails, and online galleries. In addition, digital images are not likely to fade because they are usually stored on a CD or disk.

Either way, if you really enjoy a photographer 's work, choosing which format to use for your wedding day should not be a huge problem.

What kind of photo styles do photographers usually use at weddings?

Photographers use two main styles at weddings. The first one is traditional or portrait style, the formal poses of the bridal party, family, and friends of the couple. There are little to no candid photographs with this style. The other technique that is used is photojournalistic style.

This is a more contemporary and modern. It is about snapping up photos of spontaneous moments, and sincere emotion. It is taken with very little direction from the photographer. There are two other styles that are not as commonly used as Traditional and photojournalistic, and they are illustrative and creative photography.

Illustrative photography is usually set up like a commercial photo shoot. The types of photos captured in this style are similar to those seen in magazines and even billboards.

With creative photography, photographers have the freedom, using different lighting and different angles, to create their own artistic interpretation of your wedding day.

After I have chosen a photographer, what other questions should I ask him or her?

Once you have made a commitment to a photographer of your liking, there are still more questions you need to ask. With larger studios especially, you should ask whether you will be working directly with the photographer you first talked to.

Ask to meet with the person who will actually be taking photos of your wedding. You may also want to ask how long your photographer has been in business, or how many weddings of your size they have worked with in the past, and if they have liability insurance.

You might like to ask him or her how long it will take to get the proofs back to you or their rate for printing extra photos and albums. You should definitely inquire about their back up plan and arrangements for any unforeseen changes. As well as any refund or cancellation policies they may have.

Creative Wedding Photography of Your Big Day

While the pictures from your nuptials often become lasting memories for the rest of your life, creative wedding photography is a great way to capture a lighthearted bride and groom in a variety of candid moments.

Your special day is a chance to plan things your way: the gown, location and themed colors and decor. Choosing your photographer is also extremely important. You want someone who will be reliable, professional, and of course, talented in recognizing fantastic photo opportunities.

When you're looking for creative wedding photography New Orleans, you are looking for someone who will provide you with quality wedding portraits as well as casual candid shots.

If you're planning an informal get together, it may be easier to create a fun, carefree environment for your pictures. Louisiana has a number of romantic locations for both formal and informal nuptials: the French Quarter, elegant Southern mansions, or numerous outdoor villas and gardens.

Wedding photographers Lafayette Louisiana or other parts of the state will most likely be familiar with some of the top marriage locations to get great informal shots. Whether that means catching the bride as she laughs with her new husband outside a beautiful garden, or capturing the new couple holding hands as they walk down a downtown New Orleans street hand in hand, a good photojournalist will be able to see the opportunities for the perfect informal shots.

Most professionals will have services that include a number of more creative wedding styles. With so many brides and grooms opting for a more casual ceremony and reception, it 's essential that your Louisiana photographer can properly realize these ideal moments for candid shots, rather than just looking for posed, unnatural stills.

When you're selecting your photographer, don't pick the cheapest one you can find to save a few dollars. If you choose to hire the lowest priced, be prepared for potentially unsatisfactory results. Your dream day is not the time to risk it to someone who is unprofessional or inexperienced. Spend the extra money and hire a reliable, experienced Louisiana photographer who will give you the results you love!

When you hire your photographer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, or any other part of the state, discuss your expectations beforehand. If you want a certain style of photos, provide him or her with some ideas or sample pictures to determine the style you're after.

Every professional has a different approach, but the theme and overall feeling you want your photos to evoke is very important as well. You can also determine a good mix of posed and candid shots - maybe decide on more portrait-style family pictures before the reception, and then candid photos of you and your guests dancing or socializing at the reception.

Creative wedding photos can reflect the casual atmosphere of your special day, or simply allow you to have some gorgeous candid memories from your special day: your mother and father glancing at one another during the speeches, the flower girl sneaking a taste of your special cake icing, or you and your new spouse letting loose on the dance floor during your favorite song.

Wedding photographer Baton Rouge Louisiana or other parts of New Orleans can allow you to use the beauty of Louisiana as your backdrop, and a talented photographer can help you take memorable creative celebratory photos of your day.

Wedding Photography

Wedding is not just an event but it is journey that two people have decided to take. Wedding photography may not be a mainstream or commercial photography but it is still an art. It should not be considered to be anything less than serious photography. In fact it is one of the most demanding disciplines of professional work. If you are an aspiring wedding photographer then there are certain key areas that you need to understand. One of the key areas is strategy. Even before you can think about the camera to use, the film roll, the lighting and the background, you need to work on a strategy.

A sound strategy means that you would be able to create opportunities by the numbers. You will have to create an opportunity in every situation. Most wedding photographers take two versions of the same shot to eliminate blinks and at the same time they are able to introduce variety. The norm of wedding photography is to shoot a full-length photo, which is followed by a head and shoulders or half-length photo. Secondly, you will have to create a list of photographs that should be or can be taken during wedding. The list drawn by most professionals include photographs of Bride at home, preparations/wedding dress, parents, bridesmaids, bridesmaids group photo, bride and bridesmaids, bride and chief bridesmaid, bride and family, parents and bride, mother and bride, father and bride, brothers, sisters and bride, parents and bridesmaids, extended family and any special request.

These will be followed by photographs in the church or outdoors after the wedding ceremony is over. One of the favorite shots is where the bride walks through the aisle. You can take good photos using a tripod so that the flash can bounce from a reflector at around f/5.6 followed by a shutter speed of 1/8 or 1/15 of a second. This will allow ambient light to seep in. If you are not using the tripod then you will need to have one stop less than the normal where the flash will reflect on an 80mm lens and the shutter speed will be 1/30 of a second.

There are basically two types of cameras used for wedding photography. One is the 35mm and the other is a medium format. The 35mm cameras create grainier appearance when the photograph is enlarged as compared to a medium format. Another aspect of photography that you need to know about is the camera film. The camera film is available in both B&W and color. The color film is the most popular one but off late B&W photos are coming to the forefront. The good thing about black & white film is that you can create an artistic look. Secondly, the B&W photos last longer than their colored counterpart. The salient point of color films is that they are more versatile. If you shoot with a color film then you will be able to portray the details of the wedding day. If you are using a 35mm camera for the occasion then your best bet will be 100, 200 or 400 speed film. The 100 speed film gives best quality prints in strong sunlight, the 200 speed film can be used in sunlight as well as shade and the 400 speed film is the best for low light.

Learning How to Save Money on Your Wedding Photography

Finding a photographer for our wedding was perhaps the most difficult part of my wedding planning. I went and interviewed with countless photographers, and I just couldn't find one that felt right. Some charged by the hour, some charged by the hour and received costs for wedding packages, and some just charged for packages, and I really had no idea which way to turn. Also, it appeared that my wedding photography would be the most costly part of the wedding, more than serving a dinner for 175+ people. I just couldn't accept that, and tried to find any alternative I could. As you know by now, I don't agree with vendors charging more than they normally would simply because they are suppling for a wedding instead of a family. So, if you are looking for some way to cut your photography budget without losing quality photographs, here are some great things I found out to help you save money and still get great quality photographs.

1. Check your Local Colleges

Most colleges have a photography department full of competent, talented photographers. Not only that, but these students have a creativity and eagerness that you find lacking in some photographers who have been in the business a long time. Call the photography department and speak to one of the professors, and ask for a meeting with one or several of their top students. They'll know who will do the best job. Ask the student to name you a price and let you know what is available with the equipment they have. Our wedding photographer had an advanced digital camera, and was able to burn all images to a CD for us to keep and make our own prints at home, as well as doing some larger prints and mattes, and albums. Not only that, but she had a website where all her pictures were posted, so family and friends could visit and purchase pictures from her website as well.

2.Talk to your Family and Friends

You'd be surprised who your family and friends really know. A friend of theirs who does photography on the side, or out of their home for the pure enjoyment of it? No doubt there is someone they work with who isn't listed in the phone book, doesn't have a professional studio, but who can still produce quality wedding photographs at a fraction of the cost of a studio.

3. Don't be Afraid to Negotiate the Deal

I don't know why, but most people today are afraid to negotiate costs. If your photographer only charges by the packages they provide, and not the hours, then don't be afraid to ask for different packages if none of them attract your attention. If you don't see yourself needing six 8x10 photographs, then ask instead for the number you need, and ask what difference that would have on your package cost. Also, see if you can get a discount on your engagement or bridal portraits if you hire them to do your wedding photography. Remember, it never hurts to ask, and all they can do is say no.

For me, my wedding photography was the most important part of the day. I wanted to be able to remember the day for years to come with quality pictures. I ended up hiring someone who had majored in photography, but worked another job, and did photography for families and couples on the weekends for extra money. I was extremely pleased with the way the pictures turned out. Remember that just because you are hiring a photographer for a wedding does not mean you need to pay out the nose for it.

The Perfect Picture On Your Wedding Day

What 's strange about the wedding photograph is that you need to wait to get the full benefit of his or her work. You bet, now more than ever in the digital information age, freelance and full time career options are endless. Wedding photography is a great place to start your Photography career. Photography is ever evolving; it requires an artistic flair and a vision to take really great pictures. When meeting with the photographer prepare questions for him or her, this way you will be better prepared. Remember this is a special day so make sure you explain exactly what you want out of your pictures.

A looking at photographers you need to find the one who is a expert and what he/she does. We all have choices to make and now you need to choose the right photographer, here is what you can do, review his/her work and observer him/her while working at another wedding or event.

When you find the right photographer you will need to agree to terms and both parties will need to sign the contract. Many photographers want half the payment before you even get the pictures. When interviewing photographer make sure you look at their work, so might even have a portfolio or and album they have done in the past. One of the best options is find a professional photographer to take pictures at your wedding, he has ability and experience when posing the guests and taking their pictures. A qualified professional will most likely be using what 's known as a digital single-lens reflex camera, or DSLR, with an average of 8 mega pixels and perhaps even more.

The wedding photographer is going to do his/her best when taking the pictures, the reason the photographer is there is to take a picture and show the real you. When we look at photos we think we are seeing the truth as it is taken at that specific time. This isn't always true as all photos can be cropped.

When many think back on their life, there are certain memories that come to mind. These memories are often important days or moments. Your wedding day memories are very precious and you don't want them lost by poor photographs. One of the top priorities on a wedding day is to make sure every moment is captured with great photographs and by looking at party favors. These once-in-a-lifetime memories are irreplaceable, so once the wedding is over and everything has calmed down make sure you store the albums and any part favors away that are important to your wedding day.

The wedding goes by so quickly, and before you know it your guests are leaving and think to yourself where did the time go. Then you find that the event is over and what you are left with is all your memories of the day. Once the wedding comes to an end you will receive the proofs from the photographer, this way you can choose the pictures you would like to include in your album. Another good reason to scout out the locations is to check out the lighting situations. Photographic artists who retouch and edit photography are in great demand as are graphic artists who specialize in certain graphic and photographic software.

Hiring professional photographers is usually the preferred way for couples to capture the moments of their wedding forever. If given the opportunity, most couples would prefer to work with a professional wedding photographer. Finding a good photograph is not inexpensive so budget wisely so you are able to get the photographer you want. So choose wisely.

Prevent Wedding Photography Nightmares with These Tips

One of the most important aspects of planning a wedding is of course... planning to have great wedding pictures! You can have the most magnificent wedding in the world but if the whole wedding photography thing is substandard, it could be a sore point in your marriage for years to come. Avoid this by planning well.

Wedding Photography Tip #1 - Choose An Experienced Wedding Photographer.
One of the key elements is of course to choose a great wedding photographer. So big is your photographer 's portfolio? Has he presided over a handful of weddings or close to a hundred? Experience is key here so the more events your wedding photographer has handled, the more expertise and confidence he brings to the table. It also helps to know if wedding photography is his profession or if it 's just a hobby. You know which of the two is more important!

Wedding Photography Tip #2 - Settle On A Style.
It 's best to know beforehand what kind of style you want. Do you wish to have color wedding portrait photography? Or do you prefer black and white wedding photography? Playful angles or a more conservative style? Proper poses or candid wedding photography? Settle this in advance so you know what you're going to get. Also find out if your photographer will use film or go for digital wedding photography. Ask him to explain the difference.

Wedding Photography Tip #3 - Do You LIKE Your Wedding Photographer?
Professional skill is not all there is to be considered when you hire a wedding photographer. You must also be able to get along with him or her. Do you guys feel comfortable around this person? Does he or she dress well and as such will be able to fit in easily with the proceedings? The last thing you want is tension on your wedding day. Make sure your guy is someone you really want around on your big day.

Wedding Photography Tip #4 - Is The Price Right? Make sure your wedding photographer is within budget. That 's not to say that you should find the cheapest photographer available. However, don't unload your entire savings on the wedding photography aspect of your wedding. Find a happy balance. Shell out a fair amount to ensure that you get fabulous pictures that will give you great memories. But be reasonable with your spending and haggle if you can.

Wedding Photography Tip #5 - Finalize Delivery Dates.
In the hustle and bustle of things, don't forget to get a firm date on when you will receive your wedding photos. Obviously, it 's nicer to have your wedding photo album as soon as possible, especially if you are planning to be away for quite some time on your honeymoon. However, do understand how long the process can take, what time frames are involved, as well as packaging details and the like. Arrange all this in advance so you have a good idea when to expect your treasured pics and what it will finally look like.

Wedding Photography Tip #6 - Understand The Contract.
Professional wedding photography often involves more than just a friendly handshake. You will probably be required to examine and sign a contract. Study it well and make sure that the terms are fair. Make sure that the payment schemes are correct and be sure to read the fine print when it comes to cancellations and other details. Also, be sure to know if the photographer himself will be there; sometimes an agency might send someone else instead.

Wedding Photography Tip #7 - LOOK THE PART!
So far, we've talked about the photographer and the processes involved in selecting a great one. But of course, a key aspect to a successful pictorial is how YOU look. You must be stunning! Granted you will have the best clothes, hairdos, and possibly even a designer wedding dress. But here 's a good wedding photography tip that 's often forgotten: be sure you have fabulous teeth on THE day! Smiling is everything and if there 's one thing that can sully a picture it is discolored teeth.

Make sure your teeth are clean and white as can be. The best way to do this is to bleach them. You can do this at home using an over-the-counter tooth whitening product. There 's little fuss involved and once your teeth are cleaned your smile will be absolutely picture perfect. You'll be amazed at the difference between an ordinary grin and a dazzling white smile on your wedding day!

So there you have it. Cover the wedding photography well by making sure that all functions like clockwork. The fees, the photographer 's style, references - deal with them in advance so you don't lose sleep during and after the ceremony. Groom yourself properly making sure that your hair, wedding dress, suit, and teeth are immaculate. Then go have a blast!

Choosing a Wedding Photography Package

Finding an affordable wedding photography package isn't easy. Every bride wants the best for her wedding, but the reality is that not every bride can afford the best. Many couples have limited budgets with which to work and all too often, they find themselves having to cut corners to avoid over-spending. The first aspect of a wedding that is slashed for costs is the professional wedding photographer.

The reason for this is that wedding photography prices are anything but standardized. Depending on the photographer you select, the format and style of photography and the length of the celebration, the base rate can fluctuate wildly. Added to this is the fact that there are almost limitless options in the wedding photography package. The more extras you add, the higher the price.

Many who are seeking budget wedding photography decide to spend their money on hiring a better photographer to do less work. Rather than selecting a lower priced photographer and ordering a huge photo package, they go with the photographer that they most trust and order a smaller package. Some couples even forgo the traditional wedding photography package altogether and simply buy the negatives or original digital images from the photographer. These couples then use their own technological savvy to create personalized albums and reprints that are meaningful to them.

Some professional wedding photographers maintain a traditionalist view. They feel that as the expert, the wedding photographer is the only one truly suited to put together the wedding album. This argument does have some merit. The photographer is the only one who knows what he or she was trying to convey in each shot. Additionally, the photographer works closely with trusted contacts at the developing lab and is able to judge when photos return with imperfections. He or she is familiar with color balance and stylistic concerns and is therefore quite adept at placing the photos within the album to create a pleasing whole.

The onset of digital photography and computer graphics programs has made it possible for individuals to create their own professional looking photos rather than pick from a wedding photography package. If you're the type of couple that has a flair for crafts or graphics, you might be able to do your own retouching of your photos. For some couples, creating a wedding album is a fun project that they take into their own hands.

Many couples opt for the best of both worlds. These couples purchase a basic wedding photography package that includes a small album and a few reprints. They also purchase the original media and create a personalized album as well. They may do reprints and reorders themselves, or they may order these items from their photographer, depending on how much time and money they have. This way, the couple receives a classic wedding album to show their children and grandchildren, as well as the ability to personalize and scrapbook to their hearts' content.

Wedding photography packages are as wide and varied as the people who buy them. The market is also changing every day, and more options become available with each passing moment. Whether your wedding is traditional or something out of the ordinary, there is a professional wedding photographer to match your tastes. Don't forget that you don't have to buy the whole wedding photography package, either. You can always hire a photographer for his time and buy the negatives and proofs or you can find a package that offers you a little bit everything you want. The choice is always up to you.

Are You Up For Creative Wedding Photography New Orleans Style?

You've spent your whole life dreaming about planning your wedding, and now that you are doing just that, you can feel the stress building. One of the most important things you need to decide is your photographer. Creative wedding photography New Orleans style gives plenty of choices.

When it comes to planning your wedding, there 's the flowers, the caterers, the hall, the reception, the guests, the food, and the list could go on and on, but your wedding photographer is your most important decision. That 's who is going to provide you with all those great memories to share with your grandchildren one day. Consider that traditional wedding photography is being replaced with creative wedding photography. It is a refreshing change.

Whether you are looking for wedding photography New Orleans style, wedding photographers Lafayette, Louisiana, or a wedding portrait photographer Baton Rouge, Louisiana, it 's important that you first narrow down your search by asking the potential photographers these questions.

1. How many years of experience does the photographer have?
2. How much of the photographers business is dedicated to weddings?
3. How many weddings has the photographer done in different areas? For example, if the wedding portrait photographer is based in New Orleans, you will want to know how many weddings, he/she has done in your area.
4. Find out if the person you are speaking with is the photographer, and if they will be the photographer doing your wedding.
5. Does the photographer have a portfolio?
6. Does the photographer have a professional studio?
7. What type of equipment does the photographer use?
8. Does the photographer bring along backup equipment? The last thing you want is equipment that doesn't work. You wouldn't want a photographer without a backup plan for such an important day.
9. Will the wedding photographer do studio portraits and onsite portraits?
10. Does the photographer carry liability insurance?
11. What is the cancellation policy?
12. Does your photographer offer you a money back guarantee?

These 12 questions can help you choose whether it 's wedding photographers Lafayette, LA, or a wedding portrait photographer Baton Rouge, LA. The location isn't what 's important - what is important is knowing that the photographer you choose can guarantee you the creative wedding photography you want.

Make sure you get to know your wedding photographer prior to the wedding and have a look at their traditional and creative wedding photography. Here 's a great tip from a wedding portrait photographer Baton Rouge, LA, "If your photographer isn't smiling when you meet with her, you won't be happy with the photographs." In other words if your photographer isn't happy, that will show in the photography, and your happy day will take on a somber tone.

Your wedding is likely to be the biggest event you will ever organize. For the bride, it 's a lifetime of dreams that suddenly become reality. After the day is over - you've said the I do 's , you've eaten the cake, the flowers have withered, and the wedding dress has been hung, what you have left to share with others is the creative wedding photography that you had your wedding photographer take.

Your professional wedding photographer is going to capture the emotions of the day - the laughter, the smiles, the tears, and even the serious moments, too.

You spend a great deal of money for your gown, the bridal parties outfits, rings, your cake, and reception decorating, so don't try to cut corners from the professional photographer, who will give you memories for a lifetime. If your budget is exhausted, cut other places, and don't jeopardize your photos.

So whether you are looking for wedding photography New Orleans style or some other style or region, just remember to ask important questions so that you get that creative wedding photography you always dreamed of.

Affordable Wedding Photography

A wedding involves many decisions. You need to decide on a date, who to invite, where to have the reception, the dress, the rings, and the wedding photography. Of all those decisions, the photography is probably the most important aspect of your wedding. More choices wait when you start to look for affordable wedding photography, too. Budget is at the top of the list of considerations, followed closely by what style of photos you and your spouse to be would like to have.

Engaged couples have more options now than ever before regarding styles of wedding photography. Photojournalistic wedding photography is a highly popular choice for today 's weddings, offering a much less stilted wedding album than the old formally posed shots. Black and white wedding photography is also very popular, adding an old-time romance to your wedding photos.

Contemporary wedding photography allows couples to customize their wedding photographs freely to match the feel of the wedding ceremony. The traditional posed wedding portrait is quite appropriate to the old-fashioned formal wedding. However, this is only one of a myriad of wedding styles from which couples now may choose. From jumping out of an airplane or exchanging vows on a roller coaster to highly themed custom ceremonies, weddings in general are much less standardized. It is only fitting that wedding photography should also change with the times.

Many couples feel that they won't be able to get both affordable wedding photography and the style they want in an cost-conscious package. Wedding photography professionals are more aware of the financial dilemma than you might think. They want to please their customers, and only those photographers who offer the best packages at an affordable price can make their studio a success to rise above the rest of the competition.

One of the first decisions that couples must make regarding wedding photography is whether to go with traditional film photography or the newer and increasingly popular digital wedding photography. Both styles have distinct pros and cons. If your wedding will be of a more traditional style, you may wish to follow tradition and select film photography. Film also provides a softer feel for certain styles of photography. The major disadvantage to film is the inability to preview the photographs immediately. While any professional photographer will be able to take excellent photos without the immediate feedback, couples whose wedding photography includes difficult action shots may feel more secure knowing that the photographer is able to preview and re-shoot photos as necessary.

Digital photography is the wave of the future. More and more photographers are starting to turn to digital photography as their preferred medium. Digital photography allows the photographer the freedom to experiment with tricky shots, as he or she will know immediately whether the shot was a success. It also allows the photographer to snap virtually limitless numbers of photos rather than being tied to a certain number of rolls for budgetary purposes.

Choosing the type of wedding photography and a photographer that fits your style is more involved than it was several years ago. The couple plays an active part in the planning of photography, as opposed to handing all the choices over to the photographer and hoping for the best. Affordable wedding photography is available if you take the time to look for it and ask the right questions. Talk to as many photographers as you can until you find one that fits your personal style.

Informal Wedding Photography New Orleans Style For Your Big Day

Your wedding day is a day that is going to provide you with a lifetime of memories to keep on enjoying, but our memories fade where photographs will not. If you'd like to capture the true essence and not a phony image of your big day, why not try informal wedding photography New Orleans style.

You likely already know that New Orleans is a creative and artistic city, and local photographers have learned to incorporate that creativity into that special day. Today 's bride is much more interested in more natural story telling rather than posing, which is why informal wedding photography New Orleans style has become so popular. Photographs of the event as it unfolds, capturing the little moments that you will forget, help you to relive the day over and over again.

Greg, a wedding portrait photographer of Baton Rouge commented to us that this photography phenomenon is taking hold right across the country. Part of the reason is that there are many more informal weddings occurring. Brides and grooms around the country agree that they want their wedding photographs to tell the real story, not a make believe posed story.

It 's also the reason that wedding photography New Orleans style has seen couples taking their photographers outside the church. Couples are now hiring photographers not just for the ceremony but to record the entire event, including the reception. You will want to see your friends and family laughing and enjoying your big day. And a professional wedding photographer can catch those priceless moments.

Many local wedding photographers of Lafayette, LA also agree that the days of the traditional wedding photography are almost gone. Today 's photographers get to show their creativity, and now you are only limited by your imagination. In fact, your wedding photo albums are going to be superior to anything seen in the past. Candid shots of your guests smiling and celebrating will make your photo album fun-filled and beautiful.

Now you will get to capture the most poignant moments on film. Whether you choose wedding photography New Orleans style or some other style of creative or informal wedding photography, what 's important is knowing what to look for in a photographer.

That Louisiana wedding portrait photographer - warned that with the digital age there are all kinds of photographers with little experience advertising that they can do your wedding photos for a fraction of the price. You need to run away quickly.

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true it likely is. Don't risk your wedding photographs with a discount photographer. You can't rewind and retake your wedding day. And believe me there is nothing more devastating than getting those photos and discovering they are all out of focus, or the coloring is all wrong.

Your wedding budget whether large or small should include choosing your professional photographer. If you need to cut corners, then do it somewhere else. Your guests aren't going to know you changed the table arrangements so that you could incorporate a better photographer into the budget. But you will be glad when you see the great looking, informal wedding photography New Orleans style.

Wedding photographers of Lafayette agree that you should always compare at least six photographers, their rates, packages, and their informal style, and then choose what you are most comfortable with.

There 's an old saying that says your wedding day is the first day of the rest of your life. It 's certainly one of the most important milestones in your life, and whether you choose informal wedding photography New Orleans style or some other style, what is important is that you get great quality photographs of the most important day of your new life.

Find A Great Wedding Photographer For Your Wedding Day

Wedding photography is the one discipline in the wedding industry that does not produce a product that you can enjoy on your special day. You bet, now more than ever in the digital information age, freelance and full time career options are endless. Wedding photography is a great place to start your Photography career. Photography is ever evolving; it requires an artistic flair and a vision to take really great pictures. Be sure to ask any questions you have about this important event. Your wedding photography is important to you so don't hesitate to be clear about what you want.

A wedding photographer is expected to be a master of the craft. When looking for a photographer the best way to make a determination if he/she is good is to observe them in action, try to watch them at a function or event. The hardest part of choosing a wedding photographer is that you sign a contract and agree to pay before you have ever seen the photos. If you are doing an in-person interview, the photographer can show you portfolios of samples of their work. Hiring a professional photographer is the best option because he has the equipment, the experience, and the knowledge in this field. A qualified professional will most likely be using what 's known as a digital single-lens reflex camera, or DSLR, with an average of 8 mega pixels and perhaps even more.

The goal of the wedding photographer is to capture the true you.

These once-in-a-lifetime memories are irreplaceable and making sure these photographs and party favors are properly stored and displayed after the wedding should be just as important.

Wedding Photography: How to Avoid Shooting Yourself in the Foot!

by layerbylayer
Wedding photography is the one discipline in the wedding industry that does not produce a product that you can enjoy on your special day. Instead, the money that you spend on photography is an investment in capturing the joy of your big day for you to look back on for years to come. The trick is to coordinate everything so that your wedding photographer is able to actually capture everything that you want recorded.

Start by sitting down as a couple before you book anything and deciding specifically what you want wedding pictures to record. Coordinating and compromising your expectations may turn out to be challenging enough. If it is, imagine how challenging the wedding photographer would find it during the craziness of the actual wedding day when most everyone is dressed so that the wedding photographer can't tell the difference between Aunt Betty and Betty Johnson that lives down the street (Chances are you will want a picture of Aunt Betty in some form where Mrs. Johnson might be a lesser priority). If deciding what the two of you want from your wedding photography is not a challenge, count your blessings and move ahead.

Once you have decided what posed pictures you want, take the time to speak with a couple wedding photographers and find out how much time and what kind of schedule a good photographer will need to actually capture the pictures you want. This seems obvious, but often weddings are planned in such a way that the wedding photographer is put in the awkward position of having to try to keep up with what is going on, which could leave you with less than the best in wedding photography.

Chances are the wedding photographer will want to know how important it is to you that the groom does not see the bride before the wedding on your wedding day. If it is not important, there is probably a good chance you can arrange for all of the wedding party to show up at the church (or wherever the wedding ceremony is held) early to get most, if not all, of the posed wedding photography taken care of. Even if you do not want the bride and groom to see each other until she walks down the aisle, it might be possible to schedule your wedding so that most of the posed wedding photography are taken care of and only those pictures that include both the bride and the groom are left until after the wedding ceremony.

If not, however, you might need to consider a schedule that includes a considerable gap of time between the ceremony and the reception (In some parts of North America this is very common, while in other parts it is quite uncommon) to make sure your wedding photography turns out to be the photographs that you will treasure (and make sure that Uncle Floyd doesn't disappear on you).

After, and only after, you have determined what schedule will be required for the photographer to give you the wedding photography that you are paying for should you actually go out and book your wedding location.

Wedding Photography: Selecting A Photographer

by Michelle Davis

Wedding photography is one of the most important roles that will occur at your wedding. It is also the best way you can preserve those wedding memories forever. You want to make sure the photographer will do a great job, so selecting the perfect one is important.

If you have to cut down on what you spend in your wedding, this is not the place to slash your costs. You want to make sure that you get the best wedding pictures possible and that your photographer is a professional.

One way you can make sure that you get a great photographer is to talk to your friends and relatives who have been married recently. Many times they will have suggestions and let you in on how their photographer performed.

If you are thinking of trying a photographer that you are not familiar with, you may want to check around and see what others have to say about their work. If you hear any horror stories, you would be best to keep on searching.

Style Counts
When you are picking someone to do your wedding photography, you will want to see the pictures that they have taken in the past. Unless you know the photographer well, you might not want to pick someone who is just starting out. By looking at their portfolio of pictures, you can get a sense of their style and the work that they do. Look for special poses that strike your fancy and make sure the photographer 's style blends with yours.

Price is always an issue when you are considering wedding photography. You may want to check with various photographers to see who can offer you the best prices. When you are comparing prices you can also see what the packages offer with the related prices. While some prices may seem a bit higher than others, often it is because the package offers more features like extra pictures or even video of your ceremony. Whoever your choose, make sure that you are getting real value for your money.

Black and White Photos
When deciding on a photographer, you will want to consider what exactly you want at your wedding. Do you want special photos like black and white pictures, or would you like video taken at your wedding. Are there special poses that you want taken or special moments that you want specifically captured.

If you have specific needs for the wedding, you must discuss them with the photographer. For example, do you want to have video footage at your wedding? You will want to hire someone else if the photographer cannot do this for you. Or, you can hire someone else to do the video separately.

Remember that this is your wedding and preserving this day is important. You want a photographer who will capture your day for you and do it on your terms. If the photographer seems overbearing or will not listen to you and what you want, then you need to choose someone else for your wedding photography.

Wedding Photography: Preserving the Memories

by: Colin Hartness

A person’s wedding can be one of the most important times in their life. They will have memories that they want to treasure forever and then pass on to their children. Wedding photography helps them do this. Having pictures taken at the wedding and then at the reception can capture those precious memories in freeze-frame and help you keep them forever.

Pictures are important so you want to be sure you get good photos, high quality photos that you can enjoy forever.

Most people will have a wedding book designed out of the collection of the best wedding photos. Usually the photographer will do this for you. You will then have a beautiful scrapbook from your wedding to hold your memories.

Choosing a photographer is a very important step in your wedding pictures. You want someone experienced that will do an excellent job for you. It’s possible that you may be on a budget and price may be a factor as well.

How Do You Choose a Wedding Photographer?

There are several things you are going to want to look for with the most important being the quality of the work. It would be great if you could find a photographer that you had seen in action, perhaps at a family member or friend’s wedding. The hardest part of choosing a wedding photographer is that you sign a contract and agree to pay before you have ever seen the photos. That’s how it works in the world of wedding photography; you must make your decision based of faith in the photographer. So how do you make a decision like this?

Referrals

First, you are going to want to look at referrals. Ask your friends or family members who did their weddings and start compiling a list. You will also need to verify that these people are still photographing. Ask everyone you can about their wedding and their wedding pictures. Most people will even let you see their wedding photos and you can check out the photographer’s work.

Experience & Samples

Aside from samples from people you know, you can ask the photographer himself about samples. You can call the photographers on your list and do an interview over the phone or make an appointment to meet in person. This is your chance to ask the photographer any questions you may have such as their experience, what training they have and what different types of photography they have studied. If you are doing an in-person interview, the photographer can show you portfolios of samples of their work. If doing a phone interview, that ends well, you may want to go in person and see a portfolio.

Schedule and Appointment

When you have chose the photographer you think you want to use, you will have to schedule several appointments. The bride and groom, the bride’s parents and anyone else who may be taking part in paying for the wedding should be present at these meetings regarding the wedding photography.

At these meetings, you will discuss price, payment schedule and possible deposits. Next you will discuss the plan for taking the photos. Many people also get video and digital photographs now. Do you want these? Will your photographer be able to provide these? Will there be extra fees?

Many people have specific plans as to what they want pictures of (e.g. bride and father coming down the aisle, bride and groom, rings exchanging, the kiss, the bridesmaids, etc.) This is your chance to get all this written down so that the photographer is sure to get all the shots you want. Other people give their photographers a little more freedom to decide what pictures will be good to take.

Be sure to ask any questions you have about this important event. Your wedding photography is important to you so don’t hesitate to be clear about what you want.

Nine Ways to Save Money on Wedding Photography

by: Dulce Azogue

Weddings are memorable events couples and their families want to remember forever, and what better way to capture these moments than by a camera. Weddings may be gone, but the feeling of joy will always stay because of the wonderful moments captured on film. And photography expenses shouldn’t be too high if you want to have the nicest photos on your wedding day. Here are some ideas to help you get started in producing great photos on a budget.

1. Hiring a professional photographer is the best option because he has the equipment, the experience, and the knowledge in this field. So look around in your area for professional photographers that suit your needs, and don’t charge too high.

2. If you choose the above option, do a lot of research on the price, the portfolio, and the over all behavior of the photographers you selected. Don’t just compare them on the price alone. Take note of his portfolio. Are the photos professional and outstanding? Observe his professionalism by asking his past clients (if you know one) on his punctuality and behavior. Did he come on time for their wedding? Were the arrangements made smoothly? Did they have any disagreements later on the price? Was he polite or bossy during the picture-taking? Asking questions not only about the quality of his work but also on his professionalism and personality will greatly determine your over-all satisfaction, and will ensure every dollar you pay him is worth it. You don’t want someone you hired to act grumpy and ruin your important day, do you?

3. Book as early as possible, say 6 months from your day. This way you won’t have to worry about the other clients who might also need him on the same day as your wedding.

4. Hire a photography student in a nearby university. He/she is more than willing to take on your assignment and unleash his/her creativity. As much as possible have a look at his/her works first, and observe his/her personality as well.

5. Gather your friends on your pre-wedding party and have him take photos of you.

6. Make an arrangement to keep the negatives to yourself afterwards so you can reprint them and edit them if you like. You can even use the pictures to make personalized thank you cards later that show the guests on the wedding.

7. Have your guests take photos as many as they want by placing disposable cameras on the tables during your reception.

8. Have a talented family member take your photos. Nowadays because of digital cameras and photo editors, it is more possible than ever for an average person to take great pictures.

9. Ask for help from your friends who recently married. Advices from them will surely help you a lot because they’ve gone through what you are going through now. Ask for references, if they know of some photographers who fit your qualifications.

The first most important point to remember when setting a budget for your wedding photographer is to talk to your partner first, and determine your requirements early on and how many prints you want to make. Then seek for cost-effective alternatives. Do a lot of research, and compare your choices reasonably.
