Tips for selecting wedding favors

Wedding favors factor into the wedding celebration more than some people realize. Any photographs of the tables will show wedding favors. Plus, you may even want to include a snapshot of the gifts in your wedding photo album to remember the day's decorations.

When selecting your wedding favors, it's good to consider the following:

Wedding Theme

It's a nice idea to have all wedding memorabilia follow your theme, from the favors right down to the style of the wedding album. Nowadays, more brides are getting more creative with their favors.

If you and your fiancé are music fans, compile your favorite tunes, connecting them back to the wedding theme. For example, a beach wedding could feature summery songs or songs about the ocean. Save a copy of your CD in your wedding album - it's another lovely reminder of the day.

For a Christmas wedding, you can give each guest inexpensive ornaments with your names and the wedding date.

Edible Favors

Wedding favors can double as inexpensive sweet treats, but make sure guests can take them home. Fill a small jar with candies in your theme color - M&M's and jelly beans are perfect - and then inscribe the jar with the event details.

What edibles do you and your significant other love? Pick your favorite coffee brand, teas, small chocolate truffles or even spices and attach a small card to each package, thanking each guest.

Favors to Last

You may be quite particular about keeping everything from your wedding organized in a wedding album. Many of your guests probably feel the same way, especially close relatives or loved ones from out of town. Therefore, pick timeless favors that double as nice gifts.

Small photo frames inscribed with the date is a pleasant gift. A miniature pot potted plant and flower or plant seeds will provide a favor that is both symbolic and beautiful. Make sure to pick a plant that's easy to grow and include a card explaining the favor.

More traditional keepsake favors include pretty candles inside engraved holders, or inscribed champagne glasses.
