When it comes to wedding favors it less about the item you give but how you present it. You may think a few chocolate eggs would make you look miserly but if you present them in a little box tied with ribbon they can appear as expensive as the finest Belgian truffles! Your choice of packaging should match the theme & style of your wedding & compliment the item you will give. Finish your packaging with some personalized ribbons, stickers or labels for a personal touch. Your choice of favor will also determine the type of packaging you choose. If you are stuck for ideas, there here are some options:
•Use miniature card Chinese take out boxes. These look amazing finished with ribbon & a personalized label. You could also use any miniature box as long as it reflects your wedding style.
•Mini canvas or silk bags printed with your wedding monogram or logo.
•For a beach wedding give out personalized seashells as wedding favors.
•Glass bottles of jars are great filled with candy, chocolates or nuts. Or go for a ‘message in a bottle’ with hand notes or poems on paper scrolls inside tall glass bottles.
•Miniature baskets are really cute for spring or summer weddings.
•Small julep cups are elegant & ideal for formal weddings.
•Mini terracotta pots filled with candy or a small potted plant are lovely for seasonal weddings.
When you begin to consider how & when to present your wedding favors there are some options available to you. You could set up a large table & present them in baskets or boxes or simply lay out on the table top. Add a sign which says ‘Please take one’ or ‘thank you’. Traditionally most brides will set them out with each individual place setting & in some cases the wedding favor will double as a place card, with guest’s name clearly visible. As an alternative you could make them in to your table centerpieces & pile them up in the middle & let each guest help themselves. This looks lovely with little boxes piled in to a decorative footed bowl. You could also ask your flower girls to take them round in their baskets & hand out one to each guest, perhaps after the meal & whilst the cake is being served.
What They’ll Cost
Wedding favors are simply a little gesture form you to your guests as a thank you for sharing your day. Therefore you do not need to spend a fortune on them. If your budget is very tight allow $1 per guest for the favor & packaging. If you have a bigger budget then only your creativity can limit you!
For those with a very tight budget, it can be tempting to cross favors off the list altogether, but you should at least look into giving out candy or simple cookies as these are often very inexpensive & can be bought in bulk quantities making them even cheaper. Another way to save is to buy items which can be enjoyed by couples, such as photo frames. Place them between the dinner settings with the couple’s names on them. Don’t forget to give one each to your single friends though!
As with many things connected to weddings, the only limit is your imagination & if you really want to give your guests a wedding favor then you will find a way to bring them in on or under budget.
