All About Wedding Invitations - Do You Know What You Should Have Known?

No one will deny that your wedding invitation sets the tone of your wedding. In fact it is the first impression you give your guests about your wedding. As a result it should be an extremely important item in your wedding, although the cost of it can be only a fraction of your wedding photography and gown.

The followings are the issues you should know for your wedding invitation.

The Style

A wedding invitation does not necessarily be a printing card. It can certainly be something three dimensional. Of course in this case the cost may be a bit higher than a printing card.

If you would like to stick to the idea of printing cards, you can still choose the different processes in printing and materials to match your wedding theme. One of the options is to adopt the same printing color as your main theme color. On the contrary, the idea of contrast can also make a card which matches your wedding theme.

The Wordings

If you care about etiquette, you should consult your wedding invitation vendor for the proper wordings. There are also tons of suggests on the web. You can do a little research using Google. If etiquette is not something you concern about, you can create your own wordings and contents. At the end of the day what is important is that you can give all the information about your wedding to your guests through your invitation.

Most couples nowadays go for the option of printing the wordings on the wedding invitation since it is convenient. You may also hire a calligrapher to write the wordings on your cards. This delivers a sense of human touch. However, the cost will probably be a bit higher than printing. You should also need to make sure that the material you choose for your wedding invitation can be used for hand writing since some materials are not quite suitable for hand writing.

Proof Reading

When you receive the proof of your wedding invitation, you should read it with the greatest care. Your guests may not know even if the card is not totally the same as your original design. However, they will certainly spot it out if you have spelling mistakes in your wedding invitation. You should pay more attentions to the spelling of some words such as "favor" and "favour". Besides, you should also check if all the dates, time and location are correct.

The Envelope

Envelopes come with different sizes and there are some internationally standards for that. The size of your wedding card should be governed by the size of the envelope unless you decide to make your own envelope.

You will certainly need to print the addresses on the envelopes. You should make sure that the envelope you choose can be printed with your printer at home. In fact, the envelopes must be hand addressed traditionally. If you would like to follow this tradition, you can also hire a calligrapher to do it for you. Of course it will all depend on your budget.

Time to order and send the cards

I will suggest you to order your wedding invitation at least four months before your wedding. If you are going to hold a destination wedding, you should send them the save the date cards nine to twelve months before your wedding. Otherwise, it will be good enough for you to send them two months prior to your wedding. This time frame is only a reference for you and you should adjust it according to your needs.
