Beautiful Brides: Makeup Tips for Your Wedding

Are you getting married and want to save some money? Getting your hair, makeup, and nails done can often take a huge and unnecessary cut out of your budgets. Doing your own makeup is a great way to save money if you’re getting married on a budget. Here are some great tips to help you look perfect for your big day.

A Month or More Before Your Wedding Day

  • Test Your Products: Testing the products you’ll be using on your face is an absolute must. You may want to introduce products like moisturizers, toners, and balancers into your makeup routine two months early. This will allow plenty of time finds out if your skin will have adverse reaction to the products. You never want to try a new skin product within a few days of your wedding. New makeup and skin products can cause your skin to break out leaving you with unsightly blemishes for one of the biggest day of your life.

  • Experiment: Feel free to start experimenting with your makeup well before you wedding day. You may prefer once kind of makeup for everyday use, but the day of your wedding you may want to get something a little different. Try different try makeup from different brands, in different colors, using diverse application methods. Experimentation will help you find lipstick and eye makeup that won’t smudge or run at the slightest touch or the smallest tear.

  • Get a Consultation: Getting a makeup consultation a few months before you wedding is a great way to find out which colors and application methods work best for you and your skin type. The person who will be doing the consultation will know what kind of makeup to suggest for your skin tone, and type, as well as what colors work best for you.

  • Moisturize: If your skin is normally dry, start a moisturizing routine a few months before you wedding day. It’s also a good idea to keep a moisturizing lip glass on hand to keep your lips ready for your wedding day smooch. Well moisturized skin and lips allow for easier makeup application.

  • Use Toner: Get a healthy glow to your skin by using a simple toner to balance out your skin. Once again, if you don’t generally use a toner, I suggest you either try using one well in advance, or don’t use one at all. You also should use a toner that is made specifically for your skin type; for example, if your skin is very sensitive, try one that is hypoallergenic.
The Day of Your Wedding
  • Use Concealer: Your wedding day can create a lot of stress, anxiety, and hopefully excitement. All of those things combined can lead to many sleepless nights. Use concealer under your eyes to help create a fresh, well rested look even if you haven’t slept in days and your feeling a little overwhelmed.

  • Moisturize: Apply moisturizer twenty to thirty minutes prior to putting on the rest of your makeup. Applying you moisturizer a few minutes earlier will help create a better base for applying your makeup.

  • Layer Your Lips: To make sure your lipstick lasts as long as possible apply a little foundation to your lips. Follow the foundation up with your actual lip color, and top the lip color of with a no smudge gloss. Layering your lips in this fashion will help ensure your lipstick doesn’t come off on the cheeks of relatives or stain your gorgeous white dress.

  • Use Two Foundations: A great way to make sure your foundation stays put and keeps your face prime for pictures is to apply both liquid and powder foundations. First apply the liquid foundation with a brush to ensure even distribution and let it dry. After a few minutes, apply a powder foundation to cut back on any unwanted shine.
